Walking

Mountain lake walking weeks.

Enjoy a week of mountain trail walks with a packed lunch at a different lake every day!

Your hosts, Honor and Will, who live permanently in Formigueres and have experienced these fantastic, scenic walks first hand, will offer detailed navigational help and advice, mapped routes and where required, supply transport to the easiest start and finish points, being available on the telephone should you need assistance.

We are lucky to have Lacs Bouillouses, Aude, Puyvalador, Matemale, Les Camporells and many others within a days hike straight from our doorstep.

You will experience an abundance of wildlife, eagles, deer, butterflies, in the forests and trout in the many streams and lakes, with an amazing array of spring and summer flowers growing wild in the lower mountain pastures. There are so many amazing photographic opportunities here.

The suggested mapped routes cover between 12 and 16 kms daily, ranging from our base of 1530 metres above sea level to 2550 metres! You should expect to be moderately fit to enjoy these intermediate walking trails which take an average of three to four hours walking at a moderate pace excluding stops. The mapped routes all have variations available to increase or decrease the length of the walk, which will be explained the day before. We supply highlighted laminated maps during your stay.

We begin the day by leaving the chalet after breakfast around 9.30- 10am with a packed lunch, returning in the mid to late afternoon to enjoy a pot of tea or other refreshments in this tranquil countryside, before a delicious four course evening meal with plenty of local wine recounting the days adventures.

For your last day or time out, you can enjoy time at one of the thermal pools or simply relax.
